CITY COUNCIL MEETING 09/14/15 (Fire & Police Personnel)

City Council Approves Fire, Police Changes
September 16, 2015 CT

The Chillicothe City Council approved employment or advancement of four persons in the Chillicothe Fire/Ambulance Department and hired a new police officer in an executive session following their regular Monday council meeting. All of the requested changes or hiring were unanimously approved by the city council on a roll-call 5-0 vote. The requests were recommended by Fire Chief Darrell Wright, Police Chief Rick Knouse, and City Administrator Ike Holland. Cody Dysart, who is a native of Chillicothe, is newest member of the police department. Dysart was employed by the Chillicothe department in 2011 and resigned to become a Missouri Park ranger where he worked for four years. Dysart and his family have decided to return to Chillicothe and re-applied to the police department. Dysart will begin work in two weeks. Chief Knouse said Dysart is a highly trained officer and has a degree in Criminal Justice. He replaces Dustin Southard who recently tendered his resignation and will be moving to the Pettis County Sheriff's Department. Another officer, Blaine Kennedy recently resigned to take a job with the Gladstone Police department, leaving the department one person short of capacity, Knouse added.

The following recommendations were approved for the fire/ambulance department: Hershel B. Davis (Ben) to fulltime/paramedic (he is currently working as a paramedic in St. Joseph and is a former paid by call firefighter). Two new paid by call Firefighter/EMTs are Corey Locker and Aaron Roberts and a paid by call Danny Perry has been employed as a Firefighter/RN. A change in job duties was approved for Ed Daugherty from paid by call firefighter to Mechanic/EMT.
