Many doughnut lovers in Chillicothe have been anxiously awaiting the opening of the Donut Palace all summer long. With the building being right downtown, many got to see the 1200 square foot building slowly get assembled
every day, brick by brick. Well the wait is finally over! The Donut Palace finally opened
Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 5 a.m., and by 10 a.m., the bakery had sold more than 300 pounds of donuts (equating to around 300 dozen donuts).
The Donut Palace is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will serve around 30 to 40 different types of doughnuts everyday according to Vice President of the Donut Palace company, Todd Blair. Along with several selections of doughnuts, there will be breakfast sandwiches, sausage wraps, a variety of juices, coffee, cappuccinos, croissants and biscuits . There is also a drive-through available, for the convenience of doughnuts on the go.
Donut Palace is giving
its customers a chance to register for a 32 inch flat screen television from now until November 15. Donut Palace is also offering a deal in celebration of their
opening that if one buys a dozen or more doughnuts, he or she will receive 6 glazed and 12 doughnut holes free.
There are 600 Donut Palace locations throughout the nation;
with nine in Missouri, according to Todd. Donut Palace was originally started by
Todd's father, Alton Blair, in 1978. Todd and his wife, Carol, travel, open up Donut Shops and sell them. The couple sold the Chillicothe location to Jackie and Shannon
