FosterAdopt Connect will celebrate the grand opening of its new Chillicothe office with a ribbon cutting and light
refreshments at 10 a.m. Monday, March 19. The public is invited to attend the event at
409 Washington St. FosterAdopt Connect specializes in solving problems for children and families involved in and affected by the child welfare system. The
nonprofit's northwest Missouri office was established in 2016 in Cameron, Mo. It provided direct
services to children and families through its Sammy's Window program, as well as onsite supervised visitation
facilities, advocacy and training for foster and adoptive families. By fall 2017, FosterAdopt
Connect's services had outgrown the Cameron space, and the decision was made to relocate the office to Chillicothe.
"Thanks to the generosity of our state partners, FosterAdopt Connect has transitioned from a volunteer- driven team to a paid professional staff in the new
facility," said FosterAdopt Connect Founder and CEO Lori Ross.
"We intend to channel the community's passion for kids who have suffered abuse into tangible and helpful services and to grow the pool of available resource families for kids by supporting those families as they do this incredible
work." Four people work in the Chillicothe office.
Garni Churan, who serves as program director, said the Chillicothe office will provide the services that previously were available in Cameron. Over time, she expects FosterAdopt Connect to add other programming that will benefit children and families affected by abuse and neglect in northwest Missouri. FosterAdopt Connect is a comprehensive support and advocacy center for abused and neglected children and the families caring for them. This organization was created by foster and adoptive families for foster and adoptive families, and operates on the core value that it is in the context of the family that children learn, grow, thrive and heal.
