2018 Chillicothe Holiday Parade
09 10 18 CT
The Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that
"The Songs of Christmas" has been chosen as the 2018 Holiday Parade theme. The Holiday Parade this year will be sponsored by Hy-Vee, Hedrick Medical Center
and Midwest Gloves & Gear. The parade will begin at 10:00 am on
Saturday, November 17, 2018, in downtown Chillicothe and will include floats, bands, vehicles, animals, mascots, and, of course, Santa. All businesses, organizations, churches, youth groups, scout troops and schools are encouraged to have an entry for the parade. The 72nd
Annual Holiday Parade is organized by the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce through its Parade Committee.
"Entry forms are required for parade
entry," according to Crystal Narr. "You may pick up the
form at the Chillicothe Commerce Center, 514 Washington Street, during regular business hours
Monday through Friday 8:30am-4:30pm." "The committee chose the parade theme this year based off
many wonderful songs that are used to celebrate the holiday
season," explained Narr. "We hope people will have fun coming up with related themes for the entries this
year based off of their favorite Christmas songs."
The Grand Marshal for the 2018 Chillicothe Holiday Parade is a man well known to the Chillicothe community,
and his work is seen across the region. Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce Director Crystal Narr announced this
year's Grand Marshal is Kelly Poling.
All participants are asked to decorate their parade entry. Entries can choose to be in judged or non-judged
categories. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three places in each judged category. The judged categories are business, youth organizations, and non-profit organizations. Entry is free if received by Friday, November 2, 2018.
After that date, a $25 fee will be charged for each entry. For more information, contact the Chamber
660 646-4050 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Memory Tree Lighting and Dedication Service
On November 15, Main Street Chillicothe hosted the 4th Annual Memory Tree
Lighting & Dedication Service at Silver Moon Plaza. During the event, more than 100 memorial
ornaments requested for the ceremony were placed on the tree. The First Baptist Church Youth Choir, directed by Yullie Stephen, performed a few songs,
and Pastor Allen Brock gave a short sermon. The tree will remain lit up, along with all of the downtown lights starting at 5 p.m., each night now through the first week of January.
Main Street Chillicothe
- Join us for a holiday tradition in Downtown Chillicothe at
Silver Moon Plaza for the Memory Tree Lighting and Dedication Service on Thursday, November
15, at 6 p.m.
may be purchased from Main Street Chillicothe for $10 each or three for $25. When an ornament is purchased, it includes a card for the name of the person you
are memorializing, and the card will be placed inside the ornament. The ornament will then be hung on the beautiful tree. The evening will include lovely music from the First Baptist Church Youth Choir of Chillicothe. Pastor Alan Brock will give a special message. After Pastor
Brock's message, each name will then be read and a bell will chime after the reading of each person being memorialized. The bulbs will remain on
the Memory Tree throughout the holidays and can be picked up starting January 14th and running through January 31st, 2019.
The dedication service provides an opportunity to remember passed loved ones and honor their legacy. The proceeds go
toward paying for the tree in Silver Moon Plaza in which the ornaments are hung and to continue to buy bulbs for future Memory Tree Lighting and Dedication Services. If you would like to honor a loved
one's memory as part of The Main Street Memory Tree Dedication Service this holiday season, please contact Main Street Chillicothe at 660646-4071 or
by email. Ornaments may be purchased at the Main Street Chillicothe office on the second floor of the Commerce Center at 514 Washington Street or by visiting
the website at www.downtownchilli.com.
