Campbell Named City Employee of the Year
December 9, 2015

The city of Chillicothe hosted its awards luncheon last week and announced Adam Campbell, an employee of the city-owned Green Hills Golf Course, as Chillicothe's Employee of the Year. He was nominated by golf course General Manager Craig Sager. As Employee of the Year, Campbell received $1,000 incentive pay, a family pass to Chilli Bay Water Park and two days off with pay. His name will be added to a plaque on display at City Hall. Jon Maples, of the Chillicothe Police Department, was the second place nominee and Tracy Bradley, of the Chillicothe Fire Department, was the third place nominee. Each received $100 incentive pay. The fourth nominee was Shirley Shannon of the Parks department.

The awards luncheon took place at Celebrations Event Hall at the Fast Lanes. In making the nomination to the city, Sager stated that Campbell's passion for the industry, ability to solve problems quickly and his desire to complete projects makes him a strong candidate for the award. "Adam's passion and work ethic are second to none," Sager said. "He is constantly learning new things and tackling it head on with a great attitude." This past summer, while the course's irrigation system was down, Campbell converted the chemical sprayer into a mobile water station. "Working over 30 consecutive days, including weekends and holidays, he kept our putting greens alive," Sager stated in his nomination of Campbell to the city. "Without his dedication and effort, the course would be looking at rebuilding a minimum of four greens at a price tag of $20,000 each. That's $80,000 that our budget could not have absorbed." "Whether it is working his normal routine on the course, helping out in the clubhouse on a busy day, sharpening blades for Streets, or transplanting trees for Parks, Adam is always prepared to pitch in and help," Sager said. "His work ethic and attitude is infectious throughout our staff and it helps bridge personality gaps among our team as well as other city departments."

In addition to the Employee of the Year announcement, the following individuals were given service awards for their years of service and were presented gift cards:

  • Fire Department: Andy Vaughn (30 years), David Gillespie (15 years), Dusty Jordan (15 years); Eric McKenzie (5 years);
